As suggested by Vaculus, I am going to write a guide on player banks in Simunomics.

Criteria:

1. Banker must have 6-12 months experience, playing Simunomics.

2. Banker must have second trustee, trusted and approved by the devs.

3. Banker MUST have developer permission

4. Banker must have forums account, if for no other reason, then to receive public permission from the devs.

5. Banker must have accounting tools (such as excel)

To Clients: When thinking about using a bank, ask your self the following questions:

1. Do I know the banker?
2. Do I trust him?
3. Does he have a trustworthy board?
4. Is the possible profit worth the risk?

Remember, the banker has access to you deposited cash, and you must know he won't be the type to scam you. Trust is everything.

To Possible Bankers:

A. Setting up:

If you have already passed and fulfilled the criteria, you must have a viable plan, realize that the bank isn't an instant profit machine, the depositors (If you have a good bank) will probably profit more than you. To set up a bank, you should get capital, to do so, look for people you know and trust, to become trustees, just like the clients, trust is everything. Once you have capital, you'll need an account, for banking, that is rather easy, all you need to do is set it up to level 6, so you can buy and sell buildings, (for collateral) and get Gold (for naming and tracking buildings) After that, you'll need to have a form of accounting, I suggest using excel, for simple accounting, you just need 4 pages, deposits, loans, earnings, and calcs, since you aren't able to delete any of the cells in excel without ruining something important, you'll need to store all your numbers in a separate sheet, it's messy, but it works. Now that accounting and a board of directors is set up, you need to have a good way of operating, that is up to your business plan, but when it comes to interest rtes, it's a good idea to have something close to the system rate, but locked in for a period of time (example, someone deposits their cash at .5% or 3% or .76% or whatever, you should keep that rate for a period of time, since it's very time consuming to keep changing rates when the SIR changes. Once that's finished, all you need to do is start.

B. Public Relations:

Probably one of the most important parts of banking. I highly suggest you get a forums account, so you can talk to people. Remember, you'll have a lot of criticism (trust me  ) and most people would in turn want to retort to those critics. Bad Idea! You won't get any friends that way, if people are criticizing your bank, it's likely they have a good reason; you should listen to them, and try to fix any problems they have come up with. As it says in the Bible "Turn the other cheek." Another very important part of PR is as I've already emphasized; trust. People must trust you, and what better way for them to learn, than from example, you are the one handling their money, and so you must be fair with it, if you deposit in your bank, have the same rtes as everyone else. Deal fairly, and you be dealt with likewise. (The PR advice, can be useful in most cases in life as well)

C. Continuing your Bank:

As with all things, banks have their ups and downs, one of the hardest things, about having a profitable bank, is keeping a loan deposit ratio even, there's not much you can do on about that, but the best idea, is to make large loans more available, and profitable for people. Also an idea for deposits. You should always try to keep the most cash in your vault as possible, (with the exception of loaning) and lastly, try to have your bank available to both small and large players.

That's the end of the guide; I hope people find it useful.
It's how Financial Co. runs its operations.

Trustees are the board of directors.

Quote:
3. Banker MUST have developer permission

If developer permission is given, it's not illegal.

I got a total of 18bil in capital from 5 different people and myself. You could try likewise, but remember rule 3 first.

Yes. Summing up on this topic, milkco. opened up a bank with some sort of scheme. DEVs got tired of looking the other way and ordered him to close it.

Am I really getting credit for the downfall of player run banks....... Thats quite an honor....

I think player run banks should be allowed when the devs put a little box on the left column that says "Bank" and every is permitted the opportunity to run a bank.

ooohhh.... and Benix: your an idiot... lol

I am pleading to all players, but especially Milko. I know you have invested a lot of time into Financial Co. But, for the integrity of the game and the serenity of players and developers... Please stop giving and/or receiving loans. There is suddenly alot of bickering, fighting, name calling, threats accusations and most of this has soemthing to do with loans.

These forums used to have integrity and purpose.... now its just a tattle tale group... hes cheating here or shes cheating there......

Lest unite and police / regulate ourselves. Please do not loan money and please do not borrow money from players, thats what the bond system is for...... you guys are making this game miserable!

It had nothing to do with Sunshak, or milkco even.

Well, it had a little to do with Milkco. The whole player banking excitement was stimulated by Milkco's suggestions and actions. I'm not saying Milkco was the primary problem or reason for banking being terminated, but he at least had to take credit for starting up the player owned bank ideas and enthusiasm. In addition, a few things Milkco did appear to have annoyed game admin, and overall, the banking experiment was not worth the problems that were created to keep this system available for players to use as an option.
