SimuCitizens Stuck in Cloud!

* "Shocking indeed!" exclaimed the Gov. Internet Analyst (who would only say his first name was "Joe"). We have been looking for those millions of beloved Simunomics Citizens who virtually, perhaps literally is better...literally, I mean really just disappeared from our virtual economic simulation instantly," the long-winded (G.I.A.) Joe breathlessly stated. "It is simply impossible..."

* After the very rough estimates given by the GIA of one third of the SimuCitizens lost to plague and another third sailed, swam or sunk from the continent of Simunomica out of desperate delirium, that left millions of virtual citizens unaccounted for. Until now...

* How could they be "in the cloud?" What are those little SimuCitizens doing in the cloud, what's it like "up" there, where ever the "cloud" really is. What if, what happens if one of them...they fall...out of the, the cloud and, and...

* "Yes, I mean no, no," bellowed GIA Joe, " There is no way they, the Simucitizens can ever reach here, in reality...ever." He went on to explain how like matter and anti-matter cannot coexist in the same vicinity or even the universe...so likewise impossible it was for a virtual not real entity like a simple Simucitizen to exist in "real" reality like you and I and he exist in this real reality.

* That was the end of the hastily prepared press conference from the GIA. Joe was quickly escorted to a waiting limo while most of the press and even other GIA personnel talked quietly, occasionally looking skyward. Joe was right they said, of course he is absolutely right!

* There were of course far more questions now that a few answers famously multiplied the uncertainty. There was no stuffing this back in the can it came from, it never really was contained. Hell, how could virtual nonexistent "things" that weren't even matter do anything or go anywhere? They just don't exist!

I quite like the concept. We could use some more activity in the journal, and this article not only refers to the loss of population, it also throws a wink at "the Cloud". I just have a question:

Quote:
the Simucitizens can ever reach here

here or there?

Nice observation. I thought to write it like "here" to reach a regular person reading an old paperback novel. Kind of Sci-Fi, suspense/comedy. So ya, the story line is the possibility of SimuCit's reaching "here" reality. "Invasion of/by Pixels"

• These are thoughts I wrote that would come from "G.I.A. Joe":

Stuck in Cloud (part 2)

* "Honey," Mrs. Jones pleaded, "I just don't want the kids online for a while." "We've talked about goin' off the grid, you know, the kids use the stuff too much anyway." She was still beautiful Mr. middle class Jones realized. "How are we going to "sell" that to the kids?" Bob Jones rolled his eyes away from his wife's gaze. Alice Jones was always well prepared. "Because they haven't been doing well enough at school, it will be an adventure," She smiled at Bob, " All those things we talk about doing will keep us busy." "Baby, we're rockin' the boat, ya know," Bob grimaced with wave motions of his hands. "Bob, honey," Alice put her hands on his, " Our little boat is only rocking... because our little cradle is too." Bob's flushed facial features could only soundlessly mouth the word, "When?"

* "Exhilarating," Hackerman swore to his friends, "This is it!" Even if if wasn't Hackerman knew opportunity and this had to be huge. "Find out if there really is anything in the cloud, cause we got to keep this going especially if it is all b.s." "Just keep saying we know all about it, imply we caused it," the tight circle of Hackermans' were ordered, "This is ours, our baby...baby!" Ya! Partytime for Hackerman he shuddered within himself. He was starting to feel alive again, it had been forever it seemed... and now he was going to live, Hackerman alive in the moment. He threw on some good old loud rock & roll to banish any trace of doubt. He danced around his dimly lit computer room all night long. Life!

* Joe hated this, Joe hated nearly everything. His job with the GIA made sense usually, but now he hated his job too. It didn't matter, how he felt. How could the government make him do this, he wasn't certain what they wanted anyway. He'd been in this game to long to know that his fellow employees didn't always know. In fact, he secretly knew they didn't really know at all. They all pretended and so did he... pretended they knew it all, controlled it all, lead all. They didn't and he knew that. That's why he, Joe (He hated that name), was a specialist. That's why he was used, a last resort. But at the beginning? That was the surprise GIA Joe was reeling from. He was a cleanup man, often the last. He couldn't "cleanup" a mess that wasn't there, a problem that hadn't happened, an error that wasn't made. Joe had to admit he already failed... they failed in advance. He did this to feel better. Joe failed. So what? Now he could move on and do what he had to.

The new piece is cool, but it's not as journal-like as the previous one. Maybe we can have a story spreading over multiple "issues", if it's game-related, but it's something to discuss a bit further.
